A glimmer of hope amidst the non stop rain

The chickens (obliged to live under cover in this pandemic of avian flu) are better off out of the rain and wind
Click below. The grey cockerel and hen are usually together but they have had a silly tiff over nothing in particular

In the goat shed Willow and I listened to an Indie Mix of weird and wonderful music introduced by DJ Anne Frankenstein. Willow gave me more milk than usual. She seemed to prefer this to the usual Bob Harris Country Show. Who knew that goats were so picky!

Wet, wet, wet…….

The goats are fed up with the weather

They keep asking when we will get dry weather and sunshine

I actually like walking in the rain as long as I’m dressed in waterproofs. The surrounding fields are getting waterlogged

And the days never seem to get light but are grey from dawn until dusk.

Wasteful goats……

We give the goats fresh hay each day but more than half of it ends up on the goat shed floor

Goats won’t eat food if it’s tainted in any way so they ignore the fresh hay lying around their hooves. Click below One man’s loss is another man’s gain (substitute animal’s). See chicken photos

I gave the polytunnel birds the freshly trampled goat hay. They are not as fussy as goats! Click below

Home from London

And a good visit with mum with plenty of smiles and laughs. As I arrived home I saw a pile of logs that were delivered this afternoon. I helped J barrow them and stack them (haphazardly) in the woodpile

We filled bags with small pieces that we use for kindling
It’s still very mild and at the back of the house some heathers are flowering!
