They liked Willow and she liked them

They liked Willow and she liked them
Goldfinches love sunflower seeds. We hadn’t been putting them out recently and we had hardly seen a goldfinch at the feeders. J splashed out and bought a sack (twice the price since the terrible and heartbreaking war in Ukraine began in February) and this morning I saw two birds as I stood washing up at the kitchen sink. Welcome back little goldfinches.

This afternoon I collected six eggs from the polytunnel- every hen there has laid an egg today. Well done girls!

As I was podding peas just now a red lily beetle jumped into the bowl

Fascinating history from a woman who was not only born in the village and still lives in the village but can trace her family roots here back over 250 years.

I hope to meet up with J again to find out more about the village and look forward to receiving old village photographs from her via WhatsApp.
I am pleased to report that the children enjoyed the sack races and there were no injuries!

On a morning when my old, tired body didn’t want to get out of bed, Poddy made it all worthwhile
