Such beauty even in the midst of so much rage and anger both at home and around the world

We took a slow and short Wednesday walk around the Colmworth Country Park

I stopped to use my “seek” app to identify meadow flowers

Then we sat in the shade and talked about the riots in Southport, the killings in Bangladesh, the rigged election in Venezuela and the state of so called “democracy” around the world.

Then we walked back to our cars and acknowledged our good fortune to be surrounded by and comforted by nature. It could be a glorious and more equitable world – but I don’t believe our leaders (even those with good snd not self-serving intentions) can make this happen. Age has made me a grumpy, old cynic!

R.I.P Pinky

The vet and the vet students gave Pinky a thorough and gentle examination

Pinky was probably 12 or possibly older. She had given birth to ma y lambs and she was “worn out” and was suffering with a dislocated hip. A sheep can’t stand with a dislocated back leg especially if she is old and weak. There was only one way to treat her and that was with a lethal, painless and very quick overdose of anaesthetic. I was allowed to hold her and stroke her as she slipped peacefully away

Poor old Pinky

I’ve called the vet because Pinky has been lying under the oak tree all day. She’s not able to stand. It might be a pregnancy, it might be the heat or it just might be old age. Here’s hoping she will survive. She is nearly 12 and has been through a number of pregnancies – several of the births were difficult and not every lamb survived. I’ve brought her some me water and she’s just had a drink.
