I baked myself some jam tarts and a cake today. The jam tarts have nearly disappeared and the cake is waiting to be iced and filled with Gables jam and whipped cream. Then I took the hoe, the secateurs, a garden fork and a rake and spent hours waging war on weeds, thistles and tufts of grass. In the process I discovered that two globe artichokes are growing, the rhubarb is coming along nicely and the soft fruit bushes are all budding. At the end of said task I invited Mack (old blue eyes) and Mabel to sit on the patio and pose with me for selfies to celebrate my 59th birthday.

59th, eh? Happy Birthday! Does this mean we can look forward to a party next year???
Love,
Henry
