Poor creatures……not such natural deaths!

Myxomatosis is prevalent in this area and, after seeing a young rabbit yesterday hopping around the poultry pen, this evening we saw a listless baby rabbit exhibiting all the early signs of the killer man made disease.  It was listless with unseeing eyes, making a rattling noise even as it pulled at the grass to eat.  An even more obvious sign was that it allowed us ( including our five year old grandson) to draw close to it and was unable to bound away.

And in the duck bath, which has not yet been filled with water, Jeremy found a small dead shrew that had probably slipped in and been unable to climb up the slippery sides of the bath to terra firma.
