We spent lunchtime (!) bagging up some fresh, juicy manure mixed with straw from our neighbours yard. This manure is to go into the potato trenches that Jeremy has been digging at the far end of the vegetable field.
We filled the back of the trailer with well rotted two year old muck that we dug from the pile near our neighbour’s field gate. It may not be the best job in the world but it’s not as unpleasant as you might think and the fruit and vegetables grow fat and ripe on a diet of organic compost and cow manure mixed with the sandy Bedfordshire soil.

You cannot beat well rotted manure. When horses grazed the fields at the edge of Canford Heath I used to fill sacks with the stuff. The horses have been moved to make way for a ‘business park’. In their dreams. I am just gearing up to speak for a second time at the Public Inquiry into their appeal against refusal. You can see why your place looks like paradise to me!
Good luck…fight the good fight
