I had my headlights on beam.
 No other car appeared in either direction from Roxton all the way to the Gables.

But halfway along the six mile road my headlights caught the figure of a badger to the left of us. The car lights had disturbed it and it lumbered away into the field out of danger.

This is the first badger I have ever seen!
