Not yet 4 o’clock and time to bed down the animals

I had a lovely visit with mum. Our chat ranges far and wide. Some of it is a bit nonsensical but we laugh and smile and really enjoy our hour together. The care staff are superlative – they are truly caring and kind and compassionate. We couldn’t ask for more.
What a difference a day makes
Cutting down the Cosmos stems that finally succumbed to the icy weather of the past few days
The Cosmos flowers have been an amazing addition to the garden and we will definitely grow them again
Icicles still on the grass tonight and also on the chicken wire and sheep netting around the duck pond
Polytunnel chooks get a treat of stale cheese
Sadly, in the quail barn (so called when we housed quails there two or three years ago) there have been bloody battle between two cockerels – a Silkie and a grey Bantam. Let’s hope they settle down and can share their enforced incarceration until we get the avian flu all clear from DEFRA.
Outside ice sculptures have formed on blades of grass and they haven’t melted all day.
