Plenty of produce in the “winter” garden

In the quail barn the Silkie hens are laying three eggs a day and one of the chicks is getting quite cheeky. Click below
From her room she has a view of the trees and can see people coming and going into and out of the main entrance. Just now we saw Mr Fox – bold as brass – wandering up the drive

I suffer from poor circulation in my hands and when the temperature falls my fingers often turn white and are painful. I always wear gloves when I am outside but you can’t milk a goat in gloves!

My cold, painful hands warm really fast when I’m milking and it’s a real pleasure. Thanks Willow.
It may be winter but, as we emptied wheelbarrow loads of goat straw and nutritious manure onto the rhubarb patch we saw this

Outside the polytunnel the huge, glossy, green brassicas are putting forth tiny purple sprouting heads

I do love the goats but they annoy me by wasting perfectly good, clean hay. They eat from the wall rack but pull out and trample on at least half of the hay that we give them every evening.
