Quite a day

To London to take the grandchildren out …..

To Kenwood House
Where, after looking at portraits, there was a room containing children’s costumes that referenced some of the paintings

Then it was lunch in Hendon

Followed by a film “Outside In 2” at the North Finchley Vue

And home to feed lambs and separate the flock to prevent Tufty from producing too many more lambs!

New twins born under a nearly full moon

We took them into the barn because

Domino has a scarred udder and we will need to bottle feed the boy and the girl. They have just had some colostrum that we took last week from Toffee (who had a surplus when her singleton lamb was born). We froze that colostrum and defrosted it tonight to feed to the babies. We will go out again later snd feed them some more. Well done Dom – she had twins in January!

A hot walk to the village to hand our

forms into the organiser of the village produce show on Bank Holiday Monday. The idea came from the days when we lived in Devon forty-five years ago. Then the village show was fiercely contested and the entries were judged by the matriarchs of the WI (women’s institute). Our brown hens’ eggs won first prize and so did Jeremy’s marrows. Sadly my jam and lemon curd did not reach such dizzy heights. This will be the first produce show in our village and it may take a few years to get going. My jam might stand a better chance with less competition!

I came upon this resting dragonfly (below) on my way to the village

And walked through recently harvested, golden fields
