Two years ago Cieste was off her feet for three weeks and living in part of the sheep barn. After daily food, water and cuddles she miraculously recovered and rejoined the flock. Last February she gave birth to a healthy lamb which she fed for several months. She remained skinny but active until today when, at age 13 or more, she took herself into the field shelter to die.

The vet came to administer the final injection and then took her away. She had a wonderful life, gave birth to many lambs and couldn’t face another winter. Sleep well.

Oh Gillian,
Always sad when an old friend dies – be it human or animal. You gave her a very long and happy life, and a peaceful end. I wish all animals – and humans – could have that same fate.
Sorry I haven’t seen you this week. Where do the weeks disappears to?
Off to Gransden Show early in the morning – Phil will walk Zola and keep an eye on the cows.
We are moving the three from Channels End up to Bernie and Vivian’s field on Monday. Then as the calves are old enough to be weaned (over the next month) we will take their mums away and put them up at Manor Farm so there shouldn’t be as much bawling as when they are close to their beloveds!
Have a good Shabbat and hopefully have a catch up next week.
Kate
