It’s raining again and nearly every bank in every little town ( including St Neots) has closed. The post office has taken over some of the bank functions. The small post office in town has two staff – not both on all the time (lunches, holiday, sickness, stocktaking) so here’s the queue this morning to post an important document which must arrive next day. The person in front of me got fed up waiting and left the line!

Why do we put up with it???
I always use the post office in Great Barford in the village shop. Very friendly people and I think they can do most things the bigger inefficient post office branches do.
The crazy part is that st Neots post office was much bigger. It’s now a tiny part of an expanded shop snd also does the banking for Nat west (my bank) that closed. My friend in Grantham says they have the same problem snd a fringe in london says it’s just as bad.
The main Bedford PO also closed several years ago and is all crammed into the back of a convenience store. Madness
