Jeremy collected the first “intact” goose egg today

As in past years, the crows have managed to find the spot where the geese have been laying and have left egg shells after they have pilfered the contents.

Goose egg several times larger than an egg from our Silkie hens

Two of our cockerels must have been fighting today. When we went to put them in their houses tonight the grey bantam cockerel was bloody and hanging from the chicken wire that surrounds the run.

Jeremy just went outside to disentangle the poor, dead fellow with a view to burying him tomorrow morning. He returned to tell me that he had taken the poor cockerel off the fence and…… the cockerel was alive and limped into the hen house. Hooray!

We will move the aggressor to the paddock run along with two hens for company. He won’t be anywhere near the bloodied but unbowed bird
