The date was always going to be memorable as 13th November was dad’s birthday. He died aged 86 and would have been 96 today.

Poor in material wealth but full of friendships, many of which lasted all his life.

They made the most of every single day of their lives

Growing up in poverty, visiting the bath house once a week, with parents who never had a spare penny and needed his contributions when he began work aged 14, this was a dream for him and mum and we appreciated his love and generosity

Always at my brother’s football matches, later at his grandson’s games – we had a visit yesterday from a friend of my nephew. He said that dad was his surrogate grandpa driving him and my nephew all over London to play football and watching snd encouraging them from the sidelines. He was always there for his family and even his great grandson who remembers him with love and affection. May his memory be for a blessing💕

What a wonderful tribute Gillian. Yes Leslie was like that.
Congratulations Jeremy.
Walked 8km yesterday afternoon. Everybody was happy to be THERE. Never lost hope!!!
I didn’t realise your Dad and Jennifer share a birthday (or I’ve forgotten).
Such a lovely man and such wonderful memories!
Lots of love
