A life well lived

Mum, aged 92 in November 2019

After a wonderful life lived to the full my lovely mother left us in the early hours of this morning. I will write more about her in coming days but for now it’s a comfort to know that my brother and I have taken turns (alongside her other close family) to be at mum’s side constantly for the past week, day and night. She passed away in her room at the Care Home where the term “care” was never more aptly applied. We cannot thank them enough from the cheerful laundry lady, the smiling cleaners, cooks, reception and office staff and the wonderful carers and nurses. Each person treated mum and us with kindness and dignity and humour. Mum made a good choice. We were blessed with a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and we have a lifetime of memories and photographs to treasure in the months and years ahead. No tears, no regrets, just gratitude for a woman who taught us how to live life to the full.

What a lovely photo of her. It took so many and happy memories  back. She has been surrounded with love and deserted it so much. Please give my profound sorrows to Michael and all your family.  Yours parents will always have a special place in my heart. I'll call you later on when I am back in Paris.  For the time being I am in Roquefort at Virginie's and have the covid since Saturday.  Which leaves me voiceless and bones aching. I'll tell my sister Claude and friends who met Sybil one day in London. They were impressed. Trying time to go through dear but what wonderful memories. Lots of love to you both . 8. Dearest Gill, just read your blog re Mum passing away. So sorry I didnt see it before or write to you in time. I always particularly enjoyed every visit with her you detailed so warmly. And even this one, announcing her departing from this world, was couched with the love you had for her and the care and respect you and your brother gave her. I am sure the grand and great-grandchildren will have a treasure chest of memories about her. My sincerest condolences from afar. Good friends will come to visit from all over. Hopefully, I will be among them, in the not too distant future. You two too, have built a beautiful family, I am sure much along the lines of her teachings, and they will bring you a little comfort in your great loss. Love to Jeremy, Lots of love and big hugs to you, Judy xxx
