In between cooking the beans and tromboncinos and making cheese over in the barn kitchen

Bean casserole and roast tromboncino

I spoke with my brother about the debacle in The Commons yesterday when the government tried to protect their corrupt MP Owen Paterson from suspension by introducing a motion to overhaul the standards system. Incensed, I wrote to my MP Richard Fuller asking which way he had voted last night but, more importantly, asking why MPs who are supposedly employed full time to represent their constituents also take other paid positions

If this salary is insufficient for the aspirations of our MPs then let them

Seek employment elsewhere and leave their seats to those who will work full time for the interests of the voters. No wonder there is apathy amongst the electorate.

  1. I totally agree, Gill. Outrageous behaviour. I did not need to ask my MP how he voted. Michael Tomlinson was the teller who read out the result to the House so he is exempt from the vote.
