A terrible curse

By nature wild rabbits keep their distance from human beings. If they don’t there is “something wrong”. This morning I walked down Channels End to visit a friend and deliver her a jar of honey. Just beyond their doorstep, on a grass verge was a rabbit.

I walked towards the bunny but it didn’t run away. A very unnatural sign. I got closer and, sadly, saw the signs of the dreadful and deadly virus disease myxomatosis

The rabbit often goes blind and becomes lethargic and usually dies.

I didn’t have a way of putting it out of its misery and doubt I would have found the courage. It eventually crept through the fence and I turned around and rang on my friend’s doorbell. Poor little creature.
