Water, water everywhere

On the drive to St Neots, Bushmead Road was flooded in several places. I came home along a different route which had its watery moments of excitement. Still needing fresh air I walked out just now and examined the water logged fields.

The ditches on either side of the road are filling up
Further along the water is running like a stream in the ditch. Click below
Back at home the duck pond is at its highest level ever

  1. At least our clay soil holds back the water and releases it slowly. Imagine how much worse the rivers would flood if it all ran off quickly like on light soils!
I fear there will be bad floods along the Ouse again over the next week as all the water from MK and other towns works it way downstream!
