We have two olive trees in the courtyard. The larger has been here longer but has never yielded fruit.

The smaller was bought for us by friends who will be visiting at the weekend. This younger tree boasts tiny little olives which are turning from green to black as they ripen in the autumn sunshine.

Will the tree one day yield plump fruits that I can pickle in brine?
