There is a saying that rings so true for me
“Grandchildren are the reward for not killing your children!!!”
Nine years ago today a little fella came into our lives and brought great joy to all his first time grandparents, great grandparents and aunt and uncle. He has continued to amuse and delight and, sometimes, infuriate us ever since. Mum at 90 has a wonderful relationship with her first great grandson. She and dad reached the hospital an hour after he was born. They regularly babysat for him and played with him, even though they were in their early 80’s.

Grandson also spent two days a week with us, his grandparents, from less than 3 months old until he started nursery school. It was the best fun and an enormous privilege to be allowed to look after such a precious charge.

We still get to spend lots of time with grandson as he loves “the farm” (as he calls our small holding ) and brings friends here often. Grandpa tries to teach gardening but the tractor and animals and football games have greater appeal.

Great grandma has been a big influence on grandson’s card playing skills and, for his birthday, part of his present is two new packs of cards.

Happy birthday grandson and thank you for all the happy years. May we all be blessed to enjoy and share many more happy times together.
I really enjoyed this post,Gill! Our brief experience as grandparents echos your sentiments!
