When I looked out of the bedroom window this morning the sun was shining, the ducks were quacking and all seemed peaceful at The Gables. Then, all of a sudden, the sheep were running from one part of the field to another (as if pursued by a bear, which they weren’t ). They settled down and yet a few minutes later they were following each other and running back into the paddock. I didn’t know why. I went outside to feed the hens and lo and behold 8 ewes and 1 ram were standing, sheepishly, in the front garden. I ran to the main gate to close it, afraid that the sheep would get onto the road and as I ran they turned tail and made for the side gate into the paddock, which was inexplicably wide open. This is the same gate through which the cows came into the garden a couple of weeks ago. There is either a mischievous garden elf opening the gate or the locking mechanism needs some attention!
