Michael and his apprentice Angela, finished shearing the sheep and rolling the fleeces and then sat down to eat supper with us and to mull over life, philosophy, sheep, Shetland and the benefit of blade shearing instead of eclectic shearing. Shearing is a skill and an art and Michael is at one with the animals and his craft and the animals look wonderful and relieved to be rid of their winter woolies. You can see more of the blade shearing on the Two Stand Blade Gang site. Thanks to Angela for her gift of woven, woollen friendship bracelets and thanks to Michael for his calm and thoughtful approach to shearing our precious Jacobs.

So when can we expect the hand-knitted jumpers?
