Dag, Tag and Spray

First get all the lambs into the field shelter, then close them in and take them, one by one, for their “treatment”.  The three “boys” had mucky behinds so they needed to be dagged. I had the easy job of holding them on their backs and stroking their faces whilst Jeremy cut away the dry dung.  Then it was onto their feet to have their ear tags put in by Jeremy while I held their head steady and told them how smart they would look when it was all over.  The final part of the process was a stripe of anti blow fly spray along their back and around their haunches.  We did this 10 times until all the lambs were clean and sprayed and tagged.

Then Farmer Rob arrived at The Gables.  He was due to give the lambs, sheep and cows a booster shot against Chlostridium (which killed Lexi a few weeks ago).  Problem was that when Rob got out his syringe and asked me “where’s the serum?” I hadn’t ordered anyone assuming that he was getting this.  Uh Oh!  Well it can wait until next week as they  had their first shot four weeks ago and we have six weeks grace.
