Butterflies, bees and plum tree blossom

The plum trees in the paddock are covered in white blossom.  While Farmer Rob was examining the dead lambs and trying, unsuccessfully,  to get the mother to adopt Cieste’s twins he heard the buzzing of bees.  We both looked up and saw that the bees were out in force, gorging themselves on spring pollen.  Several peacock butterflies were spread out in the sunshine, their vivid colours resplendent against the white blooms.  The joys of sunshine on a spring day even as the dead lambs were being removed to be given to the fox hounds of the local hunt.
