And it takes two cows to bring up two calves.  I often see Beattie licking and cleaning Lexy and Lucy (less often) looking after Bella.  When they were tiny one mother would stand guard over the two calves whilst the other had a few minutes “time out”.  It was like this last year when they gave birth to Larry and Barney.  Beattie is definitely the more maternal of the two cows and she cares for Lexy as if she were her very own.
