Geocaching!
As we turned into Queens Road today and set off towards the fields I spotted a road sign that I had never seen before. Apparently a number of the village roads have had their name boards renewed and the track we took to the field this morning is actually called Shelford Lane.

We were joined by three new walkers. Gill from Staploe and Heather’s granddaughters who are visiting their Grandma this week, plus Carmen’s two dogs Boo and Clarice who haven’t walked with us for some months. En route to the village green I had driven past a walker coming in the other direction. Half way along our Wednesday path we came across said walker, Tom, who was following a handheld GPS map which was taking him on a five mile loop of the village on a Geocaching walk. A what? Geocaching is an international craze for walkers of all ages whereby the map will show you when you are near a cache, which might be a tube holding a log book which you sign and leave once you have located the said treasure. It certainly makes walking more fun – like an adult treasure hunt. On the five mile loop there were 16 caches and Tom had located every one of them. We live and learn! Thank you Tom. We might all chip in and sign up for geocaching.

It was lovely to meet you all this morning. I managed to complete the route with only a few scratches from brambles and hawthorns! Lovely part of the world and a beautiful day, made even more so by such lovely, friendly folk.
