When Jeremy first grew dahlias, last year, I thought they were a very “old fashioned” bloom. The reason will be made clear when I have time to write about our first home in Gospel Oak where we were neighbours with Mr and Mrs Knight (both in their nineties), Michael Palin and family and many other diverse and lovely people. It couldn’t happen today as the cottages we all lived in then are now beyond the reach of ordinary people and those who can afford to rent or buy them are not the mix of people who lived there in the 70’s.
I will write about this next week when all the visitors have gone. Meanwhile here are some photos of the flowers at The Gables, Mr and Mrs Knight and Michael Palin at the Oak Village street party celebrating the Queen’s silver jubilee.
