Nearly two days of full sunshine and an absence of a day and a half and so much has changed at The Gables. One of the four fresh items that I buy at the supermarket is now struck off my shopping list – tomatoes (you have to guess the others).
The runner beans are finally growing and flowering and running after a very late start this year.

In the courtyard the pots are a riot of colour and the sunflowers have opened and the myrtle is smothered in buds.

The physallis raised bed is always rewarding and the tomatillos are forming their fruits inside a protective green and purple covering. When ripe the globes will be roasted with hot chilli peppers, garlic and olive oil to make salsa.
