We netted the three mature cherry trees to keep birds (especially pigeons) from eating the fruits. Sadly only one tree produced a harvest this year whereas last year all three yielded ripe, red cherries. It is often thus with fruit trees. For three summers the Victoria plums trees have been laden with fruit but this year only one of them is showing a sparse collection. But the cherry plum tree in the paddock is full of orbs and last year there were just a handful to pick.
