A talk on the subject of “Englishness” in the church of St Denys

Retired headmaster and teacher of history, Stephen Smith, gave a talk in the Church of St Denys this evening on the enormous and almost indefineable subject of Englishness.  I learnt that Colmworth was (in the 9th century if I listened correctly) an Anglo Saxon village and neighbouring Wilden was a Viking village.  The enmity between the villages continues to this day and it is rumoured that no one from Colmworth ever marries anyone from Wilden.  Hmmmm.
