Pruning the cherry trees, the pear and the quince, the apple and the plum trees

Jeremy and I re-shaped the trees and brought them down to a height where I can reach the fruit.  With the cherry trees we have to throw nets over the fruit otherwise the birds eat it before we can harvest the cherries.  If the  branches stick out at all angles it is mighty difficult to net the trees.  We still have one tall plum tree to tackle and a very overgrown pear tree that has only yielded small and unappetising fruit so far.  A good “haircut” might help it to bloom and grow and produce better quality pears.
