And my parents never, ever wanted to live on a a farm

They saw every play, film, cabaret show  worth seeing in London for over forty years – even sitting at the side of the stage in hastily arranged seats when Sammy Davis Junior performed in a club where there were no tables left.  They attended the Cannes Film festival for many years using the “accreditation” of a client who was a journalist in the film industry.  During the late sixties they were regulars at a casino partly owned by a friend though they never gambled more than a fiver they enjoyed the ambience, the amazing food and mixing with the films stars and mobsters who frequented the joint. My parents never owed anyone a penny, they lived within their limited means but they knew how to have fun and their idea of fun did not include getting up early to feed animals!  However my mother is now a big fan of The Gables, relaxes happily by the log fires and adores the ducks.  I am pleased to say that she is coming to stay at the weekend and we await her visit with great pleasure.
