The notorious black cat roundabout was quiet today as I drove to and from London to collect mum for her three day stay with use at The Gables. In the 1920’s the Black Cat Garage with its silhouette logo of a cat stood at this junction of the A1. Two redevelopments of the roundabout in 2005 and another one finished last spring have made the approach to this traffic black spot marginally better. In memory of the garage a black cat silhouette stands there still. Those of you who have visited us on a sunny Sunday afternoon will know that the approach to the Black Cat can add half an hour to the journey so in the summer we take a back route through Moggerhanger. Take note!
