Approaching the second anniversary

Friday November 13th will mark the second anniversary of this blog.  It would also have been my dad’s 88th birthday but he left us in June 2014 just after mum and he celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a party here at The Gables.  It’s a time to look forward with plans for the barns including Tai Chi classes beginning next week. It’s also a time to look back using photographs to see some of the changes that have taken place over the past two years.

When we arrived there were no vegetable or fruit beds or fences and gates.  There wasn’t a poly tunnel or animals or field shelters or a shed.  It was beautiful in its natural, wild state but all the buildings and the land needed repair and renovation and attention and we have had fun ( and continue to enjoy) making our mark on, and living in harmony with, this special place.

And the barn and the stables, with their broken slates and corrugated iron roof and smashed windows and doors open to the elements, have nearly been transformed. We are just waiting for one barn door to complete the courtyard.

  1. It is always nice to receive your blog, little updates on progress at The Gables, whatever you write about it is always interesting, sometimes just a photograph, but we all know where you are coming from, your barn is looking beautiful, looking forward to another year of blog happiness.
