Mushrooms in strange places

Autumn is the time for field mushrooms and occasional giant puffballs.  This morning, on the pathway, I spotted two varieties of fungus (which I will leave well alone) and, in our telephone box, one solitary button mushroom in the boxes that Jeremy prepared some time ago.  I have a recipe that requires a pound of mushrooms and a pound of leeks.  Leeks we have aplenty but the mushrooms are taking longer to emerge!
