It’s cold outside but in the Hanging Gardens its blissfully warm

The sun’s rays penetrate the polytunnel and keep us warm as we hang baskets from the hooks in the steel structural supports and use clothes hangers to suspend wooden platforms from the roof of the tunnel. We have planted bags with early seed potatoes and pots of lettuces and onions and cabbages.  Primulas are flowering inside this microclimate and daffodil bulbs are way ahead of those outdoors and very soon the hyacinths will fill the air with their cloying scent. Outside it is winter but inside here it feels like spring.
