The heavy rain this morning provided the perfect excuse to stay in the warm kitchen, listen to Woman’s Hour and cook a meal withh garden produce ( and bake a comfort cake made with our own eggs as well as shop bought ingredients).
Butternut Squash soup, roast veg, cucumber and red chile salad, creamed celeriac and leek quiche followed by a pineapple upside down cake which only has two of our eggs in it. Maybe we could try and grow pineapples in the polytunnel next year!

Why not? They grew pineapples at West Dean (Sussex) in the 19th century in what looks very much like a warm frame.
Now I am hungry!
