Dear friends from Grantham came to see the sights at The Gables and eat lunch with us under the shade of an umbrella in the front garden.

As we sat eating our new travelling vet arrived to meet us and the animals. An amazing coincidence was that the vet had done work experience in the veterinary practice that was run by our friend’s dad many moons ago in Cheshire.

I can’t begin to tell you how very difficult it is to find a vet who will treat farm animals in Bedfordshire. This is arable country and the most lucrative veterinary work is sitting in an office seeing cats and dogs and guinea pigs at a rate of several each hour. So no one wants to drive out of their office to see cows and sheep.
This vet is delightful and we look forward to working with her to keep the animals healthy and up to date with all their TB tests.
After lunch we had a surprise visit from a young friend and her two lovely children. They had left nursery at lunch time and decided to take a drive in the countryside to enjoy the beautiful weather. They took me at my word ( it’s true) that all are welcome.

What a lovely afternoon.
