Ghostly vapours rising from the country road to The Gables

On the way back from a visit to London today, ghostly vapours rose up in front of my car as I turned off the Roxton Road towards the Gables.

I spent the evening at the Polish Embassy listening to Dr Jack Meyer talk about the inspirational Irena Sendler and his book “Life In a Jar”.
This is a photograph of my friend and holocaust survivor Lili Pohlman, author Dr Jack Meyer, yours truly and the Polish Ambassador.

I have become such a “country bumpkin” that I nearly got run over crossing the Marylebone Road during rush hour traffic en route to the Embassy. Glad to be back in Colmworth even though I had to drive through ghostly vapours to get home!

  1. Sounds a fascinating evening. You keep flagging up books I have to read. I will add ‘Life in a Jar’ to my list. Watch out for the traffic – remember what happened to Gaudi!
