Here come the legumes, the courgettes and the new potatoes

After an abundance of broad beans, so many that the neighbours have literally received buckets of them on their doorsteps, we now have crops of courgettes, French beans, outdoor peas and polytunnel new potatoes.  The salads are growing outside and there are beautiful lettuces and spring onions and herbs.  Come on over….we need to find friends to eat it all.

I have sliced the courgettes lengthwise and placed some butter on them with a couple of twists from the pepper grinder, wrapped them in foil and they will bake in the oven. And, no, I don’t share the foodie passion for fried courgette flowers, they have gone on the compost heap!

  1. I hope you realise that your veg are precociously prolific. I was at Kingston Lacy kitchen garden today and all their produce looks retarded by comparison. Bought some delicious strawberries though – and fed the Kune Kune babies. I keep getting a message that I post comments ‘too quickly’. I cannot believe that- no one is slower than me.
