Jeremy called me out to watch a hot air balloon drifting lazily over the fields in the early evening sky.
The local fencing contractors arrived this afternoon to start putting up more post and rails fences around the perimeter of the large field. They will attach sheep netting to the inside of the wood to make the field stock proof. Although our experience with our preferred breed, Jacob sheep, is that they are quite adept at jumping over fences and hedges. The neighbouring farmer, when we lived in Devon, farmer Isaacs used to get a few spotted lambs when our ram became frisky and landed in his field amongst his plain white ewes. He took it in good part but thereafter we had to tie a tether to the old ram to keep him in our field with his own small flock.
