Back home at last

A few days in London remind me of how much I treasure the peace and tranquility of the Gables.   The dusky drive home from London this evening afforded wondrous pink skies possibly heralding good weather tomorrow if the old saying “red sky at night is a sailor’s delight, red sky in the morning is a sailor’s warning” holds true.

Tomorrow there are fruit trees to plant, three apples and two pears. But first we must visit Pells and buy some wooden stakes and netting and possibly some more of their delicious curly kale.
It will be good to get my hands into the soil and to put my feet back into wellie boots and to see what progress has been made on the garages.

  1. I do enjoy reading all your news.I hope that you will continue to enjoy all the hard labours and eventually to enjoy the results. Remember to keep me the Gooseberries.

I remember the saying that you quoted but my version referred to a Shepherd not a Sailor!
