What happened to winter?

It is the beginning of March and I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times that I have had to scrape ice from my car.  Strange!  This morning I hung the washing to dry on the outside line in the spring sunshineImage

We went to St Neots to take advantage of the Wednesday discount offered to the over sixties at our local B and Q.  It was bustling with oldies – some with sticks, some on mobility scooters, some in wheelchairs and some ( like us) wearing their ponytails with pride!
The new garden ranges had been put out out overnight and were selling out fast. We grabbed two rocking chairs, two patio wood burners, a petrol mower and some wood with which to make raised beds in which to grow salads. Thank goodness for the two excellent assistants who served us, pushed the trolleys and arranged for delivery of the goods. Yes, I know what you are thinking, the shop should pay for this blog and, of course I rang their head office and suggested the same, but they offered to read it sometime and in the meantime I just couldn’t resist writing about our outing.

On the way home we stopped in the village of Wyboston to pick up a pond repair kit from the wholesalers of the pond lining that we have managed to puncture. We are not alone which is why they sell the kits. As the lady in the factory said when I told her that it was draining the pond that was the nuisance not repairing the hole ” Yes, ” she agreed, “that’s the buggeration!” New word to me….. But an apt one.
So we will start to move the fish and drain the pond this afternoon – what a b……ion!image

    Lucky you

I had to scrape the ice off my car here in NW London at 7am this morning!

And trying to do any work in my seriously waterlogged garden is counter-productive

Roll on the real warm/sunny weather…
