The sun doesn’t always shine – but there’s always the poly tunnel

A morning indoors sorting out books on the new bookshelves and emptying yet more boxes.  How did all this “stuff” fit into our old semi detached house and yet we struggle to find a home here for all our possessions?

I made a foray in the car to Pells farm shop near Wilden village – a great place to buy locally grown brussels sprouts, potatoes, carrots and all sorts of vegetables and apples- and also a nursery which amongst other useful items sells netting and stakes that we used when we planted the new fruit trees a couple of weeks ago. I also bought a wicker basket to hold the kindling, paper and logs for the newly installed woodburner in the small lounge.image

Then we went outside stepping over deep puddles until we entered the warm, dry poly tunnel.  We began to plant pots of rocket, trays of leeks and into the  raised beds some more peas.  The heavens, outside, opened and unleashed sheets of rain but inside the poly tunnel we were warm and dry.

  1. I hope to sell the surplus produce in The Suburb once a week.
I will let everyone know, via the blog, what will be on sale that week and at what price and which day.
I also make jams and chutneys so we won’t freeze too much.
