Poly tunnel planting, gooseberries in the ground and a life buoy set in place by the pond

On a crazily warm and sunny Sunday we set out on several small missions.

First we planted out three prickly gooseberry bushes using most of our remaining store of manure – I dreamt of summer days spooning tart gooseberry fool out of glass dishes as we took tea in the garden.  But I am sure Jeremy has other plans for summer afternoons which involve less sitting and more digging.

Then we took the life buoy, a heavy stake and a sledgehammer down to the pond and knocked the stake into the heavy clay soil next to the fence.  I hope we never have to use the ring to rescue anyone

Then it was into a very warm poly tunnel to plant micro rows of carrots, turnips and small pots of radishes using the wonderful molehill earth that I collected from the field last week.  Thank you moles for producing such fine tilthed soil for planting.

    • Yesterday a new baby girl was born – our granddaughter
We look forward to showing her The Gables, the pond, the duck houses, the fruit trees and bushes, the vegetables plots, the poly tunnel, the barn, the summer house and the birds that come to the feeders around the house. In time we hope she will have her own child sized plot on which to grow child friendly, quick plants such as radishes and lettuces and baby turnips.
