The Roxton to Colmworth road this morning at 8 am
I was looking out for birds of prey or possibly sleeping owls. But all I saw were flapping crows waiting to descend on the fields and flying low over my little black micra. But just before I arrived at the gables two silly pheasants came running across the road, looking neither to the right nor the left. The car coming in the opposite direction slowed down just in time and the pheasants ran into the hedge, looking surprised that they had ” made it this time”.
They are not the ” brightest of birds” according to my neighbour and the young ones are worse.
