Eight rows of asparagus crowns , covered with enriching manure!

It was a day spent outside from 9 am until dusk.
Raking the leaves, then foraging in the copse at the far end of the field for leaf mold. We brought four bags back to the poly tunnel and tipped them into the raised beds. Then I dug wheelbarrow loads of earth to pile on top of the leaf mold while Jeremy made two trips to our neighbour to fill the trailer with well rotted cow and horse manure to put on the rows of asparagus. The last of the second trailer load was placed on top of the earth in the poly tunnel.

After a cup of tea and a quick tidy up of the tools before dusk turned to darkness, we set up a woodworking station in the barn. Jeremy had salvaged lots of the wood from the kitchen for future use in his ” duck house schemes”. Some of his plans involve floating a pallet on empty coke bottles and fixing a deluxe duck house to the top of the floating pallet.
Meanwhile other wood found in the cart barn is now going to make the tables that will run down the centre of the poly tunnel. My job was to remove nails from the lengths of wood and Jeremy used his circular saw to cut the wood into equal pieces.
J is still outside in the barn.
I have decided to come into the warmth of the lounge and make some calls to friends and family.
