We have put her in the “lying in” house where (if all goes to plan) in 28 days time the duck eggs on which she is sitting should hatch.

A European hornet and not the dreaded Asian species. Dr Google tells me that it only stings when threatened (I’m not threatening it) and the sting is no more painful than a bee sting (I don’t like bee stings) but it can sting multiple times. I’ll keep my distance.
