Lamb feeding in the dark on Friday night.

Luckily the hungry trio ran to us for their bottles. At Friday night dinner one of the dishes was a leek quiche (without pastry) made from our eggs, leeks and goat cheddar

Jeremy made a bean cholent which was delicious

Full of a variety of Gables vegetables including our own beans that we had dried and stored in the autumn

The Detectorists – coming to a field near you

On my afternoon walk I met this gentleman and his dog Ted

Ted had a bully dog look but was friendly. I had asked, “Does he bite?” And was assured that he was more likely to lick my face than bite. Neither appealed to me!Turned out that Ted’s master is a detectorist and he and two pals were setting up tents to camp in the field until Sunday. They pay the farmer for the privilege and agree to share any treasure trove proceeds.

I learnt a lot and might consider letting them come onto our field another time.

What fun and a warm weekend in prospect

A local friend called in this morning for a catchup and a lamb cuddle

We discussed the book, Jews Milk Goats, because

I had just finished a telephone interview with a journalist in the north of England. A bit of shameless PR here – the book is available on Amazon and also to order through Waterstones in UK and Barnes and Noble and more in USA. My local St Neots bookshop have ordered some copies because someone went in there to buy one and they didn’t have it in stock. Wonder how the purchaser knew about it?
