Remembrance of time past

I’m in London with daughter to listen to her speak on a panel event. This is about a mile from our first married home. I left her at the venue and revisited Oak Village and even knocked on the door of my old house.

The street looks the same
My old house (they’ve added the brick extension to really what was a Victorian cottage)
The young couple living in our old house. I wish them joy and health and happiness
And Michael Palin still lives in the same house but sadly his wife passed away

No escape

I thought that we had escaped the virulent apple ermine moth infestations that have devastated so many apple trees this year. Sadly I noticed signs on my beloved Bramley apple tree. It was time to act.

I took clippers and a pruning knife

and set off down the orchard chopping out infected branches on as many apple trees as I could reach. Now I have to burn them and tomorrow I’ll get up a ladder to reach the higher branches.

I want to find an organic spray and will probably hang some moth traps from the affected trees
